A Day in the Life of Ellen Bryant

Hey Digilogue Fam! We're back in Australia for another installment of our Artist to Watch series featuring Melbourne Singer-Songwriter and curator Ellen Bryant.

Ellen started her music career off as a singer and dancer for Universal Studios in Singapore before relocating to Toronto. While living in Toronto, she fully immersed herself in the creative community there and developed a passion for curating shows and events. Now Ellen is making her mark in the Melbourne music scene with singles ‘That’s How I Feel’ and ‘Frequency/Doin’ Just Fine’. Make sure to check out the entire interview, live now via our Digilogue YouTube!

A Day in the Life of Ellen Bryant

I like to ease into the day. Take my time. Notice the small things, there is inspiration in everything if i want there to be.

I wake up and be still for like 10 minutes and look out the window… admire nature. Depending on the day or the work flow ahead… I like to read out on the front balcony with a coffee. I'm currently reading Wabi Sabi. Alternatively I hit up my local cafe Burnside in Collingwood. (Photo: looking out my window)

Today I'm hitting up Burnside. I’ve got a single release coming up and this week i’m shooting the music video for it, so first task of the day, i’m off to get my nails done. Brb.

I get home, eat and go through what needs to be done for the day. I write a task list the night before, so when I sit at my desk I can hit the ground running. Task lists really help me with time management and also focus, in a world of distractions re having a phone… task lists return me to my focus. I give thanks before I commence work at my desk!! (Photo: My desk. Record on display this week is George Benson, this artwork inspires me in the way of simplicity and design).

Because I'm in preparation for my upcoming release I have a lot to do. Today I'm focusing on the world of marketing. I’m excited because I'm also gonna hit up some of my fave DJ’s and producers to see if they wanna remix Unravel (upcoming release) I liiiive for a remix and respect the world of DJing and production hugely, it’s so cool to get people involved and see where their mind takes them creatively. Side note, Unravel artwork below. I have a lot of fun designing my own artwork and graphics :)

I work on music in some capacity every day. Today I've had a solid amount of time to dive into music before I go to my restaurant day job at 5pm. I walk there, I do my shift and then listen to some music on the walk home… Tonight, I was listening to Alfa Mist to wind down. I stretch my body before I sleep, I usually go on pinterest and add to my “Desires/Future” board ha! And then off to the land of sleep i go!! (Photo: A dream to be able to perform in a place like this one day! The Philharmonie De Paris)

All in all, no day is the same. I like it that way, it keeps me on my toes!

Peace and do what feels right for your mind and body <3
